We are an independent and family run Funeral Directors dedicated to serving our local community; here to assist and advise you in whatever way we can, 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year.

When you suffer a bereavement, a funeral for a member of your family can be the most difficult day of your life.

With our personal and sympathetic approach, we are able to help you in making the necessary arrangements, offering our support and guidance throughout this most difficult time, to create a meaningful service that honours the memory of your loved one.

I went to a funeral today, and was so impressed with the help I received.  I bought my friend in a wheelchair,  and just I was about to push her, one of Bearers, appeared, and offered to help. He wheeled my friend all the way into church, and found us a seats. I was very grateful, that the team, went the extra mile. Great service. Thank you.

Having attended a number of funerals of friends and neighbours in recent years, one business always impressed me in terms of it's professionalism and so when advised by my late mother's doctor that at 101, the end was nigh, I gave them a call. It was answered by Diane and I was immediately given assurance that when the inevitable happened Peter Barnes would  take care of everything. That is exactly what happened, quietly, calmly, efficiently and with utmost dignity, Diane and Michael made all the arrangements. We did have some challenges which included a worrying delay in obtaining the death certificate due to a procedural error on behalf of the local surgery, which took us right to the deadline. We were even  delayed on route to the crematorium by a road closure due to an accident so mum ended up being late for her own funeral, but nothing phased the team at Peter Barnes and I have nothing but praise for this excellent local business

After my partners father died in South Africa and with having no joy getting  him repatriated ourselves I contacted Peter barnes funeral services and spoke to Diane . She couldn’t have been more helpful and with in 2 weeks we had him back home with us . On collecting  him from the funeral parlour he was treated with dignity and respect and the service we received went above and beyond we as a family would like to express our gratitude and thank Diane and the staff for being so helpful, thoughtful and efficient we would highly recommend there services . The expertise was all we could ask for  from my first call to notify them of my husbands death  to picking up my husband’s ashes  was an experience that I didn’t  expect.  I was treated with compassion at all times  and they didn’t mind how ever many times I contacted them .  Nothing was to much trouble I had several questions that was all answered professionally.   I do believe that Diane and her staff did everything they could durning my difficult time in fact they went the extra mile mile to make sure everything was as we wanted. I would recommend them 100%

Losing a parent is one of the most difficult things to deal with in life.  Diane and the team at PBF were amazing.  Kind, considerate, sympathetic and totally understanding the trauma that comes with the overwhelming grief when you are dealing with this situation alone.  My heartfelt thanks to Diane for the guidance and understanding, to Michael for listening and gently helping me through the maze of decisions and to Neil and Colin who dealt with the removal of mum from the house in the most respectful way.  On the day of the funeral comments were made from friends on how respectful and kind all in attendance were - I can only add my above words to that and thank them for just being there.
